<b>Medicare Part D has four coverage phases:</b> Deductible Phase: You pay the <b>full cost</b> of your drugs until you reach your deductible. Initial Coverage Phase: After meeting the deductible, you pay a <b>copayment or coinsurance</b> amount. Coverage Gap Phase: You may pay a <b>higher cost</b> for your drugs in this phase. Catastrophic Coverage Phase: Once out-of-pocket costs reach the threshold, you pay a <b>small copayment or coinsurance</b>.
Extra Help is a Medicare program for those with limited income and resources to pay the out-of-pocket costs that come with medication. If you are receiving Extra Help, you will have received a letter from the Medicare office.
